Liverpool have already completed a major deal to sign Rennes’ star Jeremy Jacquet this summer and are reportedly on the verge of signing Palmeiras talent Allan.
While many fans were frustrated at not seeing the transfer completed in the January window, Liverpool reached an agreement to sign 20-year-old Jacquet in the summer. The deal is complete, but he will only move to Merseyside after 30 June 2026.
The French defender is said to be one of the best defensive talents in the world, along with Giovanni Leoni.
After Liverpool announced the transfer, Arne Slot said: “Very pleasing, of course, because first of all he is a very big talent – and maybe even more than ‘only’ a talent, but we speak about talent because of his age, of course.”

Slot continued: “Second of all because we weren’t the only one interested in him, so another big compliment for the people that are working every single day so hard to sign players, that we were able to sign such a big talent.
“And [it is] another example of the model we are using at this club: so, young, very talented players, sometimes in the start of their career, sometimes already a little bit a few years into their career, but always players that are young and can improve us and help us for the short, but definitely also for the long term.
“We have signed a lot of them recently and I’ve said many times that the mid- to long-term, but even the short-term, future of this club is in a very, very, very good place.”
Liverpool now closing in on second summer signing with £30m deal to sign Allan in ‘the coming weeks’
Liverpool are set to sign Allan in ‘the coming weeks’, according to widespread reports in Brazil.
?? Allan to Liverpool? Here’s what I’m seeing
So I've spent much of the last 24 hours digging into Allan Andrade Elias of Palmeiras, and the picture is becoming clearer. This feels like a calculated gamble rather than a headline grab.

Brazilian reporter Robson Morelli reports that even though the deal will be done in the next few weeks, it will likely only be announced after the FIFA World Cup. This leaves several months before it becomes official.
The 19-year-old has been part of the Palmeiras setup since the U15 age group but he has since been promoted to the first team where he has earned rave reviews. As is typical of Brazilian forwards, Allan has a penchant for flair and flamboyance but is also direct like most modern forwards.
Not only is he a fantastic forward, he can also operate as an attacking midfielder and in a wide midfield position.
In his first year as a professional, Allan made over 50 appearances – one of the highest totals for a youth graduate – and scored a dramatic goal to help Palmeiras qualify for the Paulistão knockout stage.
