Liverpool have the opportunity to bring in some new faces when the summer window opens up for business

Liverpool are ‘leading the race’ for Wolves attacker Mateus Mane, according to CaughtOffside. The report adds that his valuation is around the £50million mark. Arsenal have also been mentioned as a potential suitor, along with Manchester United.

The Reds are back in Premier League action this weekend against Nottingham Forest away. They won 3-0 at home against Brighton and Hove Albion last time out at Anfield. Arne Slot’s side are sat in 6th place in the table after 26 fixtures.

Liverpool target move for Mateus Mane at Wolves

Liverpool could see Mane as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. At the age of 18, he has bags of potential and could be a useful long-term addition.

Mane, who is an England youth international, was snapped up by Wolves back in 2024 after a spell in the North West at Rochdale. He has since burst into the first-team picture at Molineux and the Midlands club will face a real battle to keep hold of him this summer amid attention from elsewhere. His contract expires in June 2029 though so they are under no immediate pressure to cash in.

Rob Edwards’ side can afford for the right offer to come in for his signature. However, they are set to be playing their football in the Championship next term and Mane is unlikely to stay in the second tier. He has scored two goals in 12 games in this campaign.

Liverpool-linked Mateus Mane praised by Paul Merson

Liverpool-linked Mateus Mane has recently been praised by pundit Paul Merson: "He is something for the fans, they need something to get them up. He is enthusiastic, he has scored a couple of goals and he looks like he could be a superstar. He works hard and I like his attitude.

"There is a lot of pressure on him for a young kid. It is like, if Mane plays we've got a chance, when really he should be coming in for a couple of games and then coming back out, because there is a lot of pressure on him playing for, and without being unkind, a poor football team. They wouldn't be bottom of the league if they weren't."
