Mike LaFleur sends stern message about not copying the Packers

The Arizona Cardinals are ushering in a new era on the sidelines, with Mike LaFleur, the brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, now leading the NFC West Division franchise’s coaching staff.

Like his brother and all the other coaches in the league, Mike’s ultimate mission is to lead his team to a Super Bowl win, and while it may seem like a pipe dream for now for the Cardinals, who won just three games in 2025, he is excited to get it all started for the team.

LaFleur also recently stressed that he, along with former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, is looking forward to establishing the team’s own identity.

Via Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports:

“He’s been very successful. He’s very thought of, particularly within our profession. If you guys believe one thing from this press conference, it is literally I wanted him and nobody else and he’s here,” LaFleur said.

“We’re not going to be Green Bay, we’re not going to be the Rams, we’re not going to be the Niners, we’re going to be us. Whatever us becomes,” the head coach added. “And again, our foundations are very similar. We see the game very similar, but I’m excited to piece it together with him.”

There should be plenty of work for Hackett and LaFleur, who was the Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator from 2023 to 2025 before accepting his first-ever head-coaching gig in the NFL with the Cardinals.

In the 2025 season, the Cardinals were just 22nd in the NFL with an average of 20.9 points per game and 17th with 327.0 total yards per outing.
