Agent responds to Liverpool transfer links–Boost for the Reds

Liverpool’s hopes of a potential deal for Roma defender Zeki Çelik may have been boosted. His agent has insisted talk of a deal with Juventus is wide of the mark.

Gianluca di Marzio cover comments from his representative today. He insists that Çelik hasn’t signed for Juventus or anyone at this point.

The Roma full back will be a free agent in the summer transfer window. That’s led to several clubs showing an interest in him. Liverpool are one of them.

Liverpool efforts

Sport Witness have covered their interest over various reports. The first of those came earlier this month, stating a move to Liverpool would simply be too tempting for the 29-year-old to turn down.

A seperate report followed that stating that an effort from Anfield was on the way. Contact had, reportedly, already been made with his agents.

However, reports in Italy then poured cold water on the idea yesterday by suggesting that Juventus had stolen a march on the competition for the defender.

According to various reports, Çelik had already signed a deal to join them in the summer transfer window.

Agent responds

Those reports made it clear that the Italian giants were also keen on the Roma full back, thanks to his free agent status. And they’d stolen a march on the competition, like Liverpool, to sign him up early.

Çelik’s agent, Fazıl Özdemir, has now dismissed those rumours. Instead, he appears to be welcoming any offers that come.

“The rumours that Zeki has reached an agreement with a club are not accurate,” he said.

“He currently plays for a major club, and it is natural that major teams in Italy and England would show interest in a player competing at this level and that his name would be associated with those clubs.

“His contract with Roma expires at the end of the season; however, he has great respect for the club. At this stage, he is not focusing on contractual or transfer matters. His full attention and commitment are focused on supporting Roma in achieving its objectives.

“We believe that all other matters will be addressed and resolved in due course, in a professional and respectful manner,”
