'Simply sensational' Liverpool Academy talent now so close to making history this season

The Liverpool Academy has been a rare bright spark in a difficult season for the Reds, and Harry Wilson’s goal record could be broken.

Born in Wrexham, Wilson began his youth career on Merseyside and had an excellent stint in the U21 set-up.

He made 66 appearances for Liverpool’s U21s, in which he scored 34 and assisted 15.

During his most prolific season, Wilson found the back of the net 12 times in the U21 Premier League, a record that still stands to this day.

Kieran Morrison and Keyrol Figueroa close to surpassing Harry Wilson

However, it looks as though Wilson’s record will be surpassed by one or both of Kieran Morrison and Keyrol Figueroa.

Morrison has been called ‘simply sensational’ and was once again impressing in Liverpool’s youth ranks this week.

He scored twice and provided an assist as the Reds’ U21s beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 on Friday, February 20.

That means Morrison now has 10 goals to his name in the competition this term, just two fewer than Wilson’s record total of 12.

However, the versatile midfielder is not the only youngster aiming to make history, as 19-year-old Keyrol Figueroa has found the back of the net 11 times in 14 Premier League 2 matches this term.

Harry Wilson could secure summer transfer

While he was immense at U21 level, Wilson made just two senior appearances for Liverpool.

He eventually left Anfield permanently in 2021 to sign for fellow Premier League side Fulham.

The 28-year-old has gone on to score 34 and assist 43 in 176 matches for his current side.

However, Wilson is out of contract at the end of June 2026, and recent reports say that Aston Villa are looking to land the ex-Liverpool man on a free.
