Injury headaches: Liam Rosenior is without some key players against Burnley
Chelsea Football Newsletter
The Spaniard missed Friday’s 4-0 FA Cup win at Hull City due to a hamstring injury that forced him off at half-time of the 2-2 draw with Leeds in the Premier League on February 10.
The timeframe for Cucurella’s return is still unknown, according to head coach Liam Rosenior, who namechecked Jorrel Hato and Malo Gusto as potential understudies.
Gusto gets the nod over Hato to stand in at left-back, this is the despite the latter doing so in the second half against Leeds and also for the full match against Hull.
Chelsea, as expected, have gone strong against the Clarets, given they have had a free midweek leading into the game and are scheduled for another one afterwards.
Rosenior rotated the team to face Hull but has handed recalls to Trevoh Chalobah, Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez against Scott Parker’s side at Stamford Bridge.
This sees the likes of Liam Delap and Alejandro Garnacho drop to the bench.
Chelsea are still without Dario Essugo, Jamie Gittens and understudy goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen due to their own injuries.
