Former Liverpool midfielder Thiago is poised to make his Anfield comeback for a fixture that will see several Reds legends take on a Borussia Dortmund Legends side. Liverpool brought Thiago in from Bayern Munich back in 2020 for £26million.
The Spanish maestro enjoyed four seasons with the Reds, racking up 98 appearances and netting three goals. He played a crucial role as the club secured both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup during the 2021-22 season.
Thiago, 34, hung up his boots two years ago and is due to participate for the first time in the charity fixture, taking place on Saturday, March 28.
Whilst he became a huge crowd favourite, injuries disrupted Thiago's spell on Merseyside. Nevertheless, he frequently mesmerised the Kop with a degree of ball mastery and range of distribution that's seldom been witnessed at Anfield.
It seems Liverpool made a lasting impression on Thiago as well. Twelve months before his exit, he unveiled a new play facility for youngsters in the Toxteth area of the city, financed by The Alcantara Foundation and LFC Foundation.
When departing Liverpool he said: "Thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of this city, this club and this community. The continuous support I have received since day one has been incredible: Anfield cheering, the Kop chanting... amazing, overwhelming. A very unique fan base for a unique club."
Thiago joins a host of players already confirmed, including legends such as Steven Gerrard, Sami Hyypia, Martin Skrtel, Vladimir Smicer, Natasha Dowie, and goalkeepers Jerzy Dudek and Pepe Reina.

The management team for this year's LFC Foundation charity match will also witness Jurgen Klopp returning to the Anfield dugout to support manager Sir Kenny Dalglish.
They will be accompanied by the Reds' all-time leading goalscorer Ian Rush and former striker John Aldridge. All proceeds from this fixture will go directly towards the work of LFC Foundation and Forever Reds.
Money raised will help support LFC Foundation's employability programmes, which assist people across the community to find work, gain qualifications and develop new skills.
Liverpool Legends defeated Chelsea in their last encounter, with Ryan Babel netting the only goal of the match at Stamford Bridge in October. In March of last year, Peter Crouch scored twice as Liverpool beat the West London outfit at Anfield.
