Chelsea has gained huge momentum in signing a player from their rivals Tottenham Hotspurs. Liam Rosenior’s team is looking to add Lucas Bergvall from their rival, as the player has shown huge development. Despite the club’s recent form, the Swedish player has done a good job in his limited game time. It would be interesting to see his transfer saga at the end of the season.
Chelsea have received encouragement in their efforts to sign Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall despite seeing an inquiry rebuffed in the mid-season window. Both Chelsea and Aston Villa are believed to have contacted Sours about the 20-year-old in January but were told he was not for sale at any price. However, as explained in the latest edition of an interview, Spurs may be unable to keep hold of him if their poor form continues. Tottenham have been sucked into a relegation battle. With just five points separating them from West Ham, and are now fighting for survival.
As it looks extremely unlikely that they will qualify for Europe, clubs aiming for Champions League qualification are keeping a close eye on their top players. Bergvall has been a key player for Spurs this season. He have made 26 appearances across all competitions so far, but is attracting growing interest as a result.
The likes of Chelsea believe they will be able to tempt the Sweden international away from North London by offering him the opportunity to continue playing European football.
Other clubs except Chelsea are also trying to sign the Tottenham player.
Lucas Bergvall is wanted by Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Chelsea, as vultures circle during a difficult time for Tottenham Hotspur.
The young Swedish has been out injured with an ankle issue as of late and is targeting a return in late March. But with Spurs struggling towards the bottom of the table. Premier League rivals are eyeing the star as a potential option. He could leave in search of European football next season. With both Liverpool and Aston Villa eyeing midfield reinforcement, Spurs may struggle to keep some of their big stars, as Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven reportedly feel unsettled. Spurs signed Bergvall in 2024 for a reported £8.5 million despite interest from Barcelona.
The Stockholm native has been solid in N17 during his year and a half in English football. He was one of the club’s brighter sparks.
Big clubs have always coveted Bergvall, though: in his youth, the midfielder had trials at the likes of Juve, Man Utd, and Bayern Munich before joining the Brommapojkarna academy, so reports of interest from big Premier League rivals aren’t entirely surprising.

Player’s ongoing injury
Injuries have ravaged Tottenham Hotspur this season, and Lucas Bergvall became one of their latest significant setbacks when he went down with an ankle injury during a 2–0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Like with Mohammed Kudus and Rodrigo Bentancur, Bergvall ended up being diagnosed with a multi month injury. What initially seemed like just a knock. Bergvall was not as important as he should have been under Thomas Frank and got miscast by the Danish manager as a No. 10. He is still one of Tottenham’s best and more important pieces in a midfield. He has played below its talent level this season. And in the 2024/25 campaign, Bergvall was vital to winning the Europa League before his first significant injury.
Bergvall’s latest injury didn’t just have Tottenham worried about competing this season with the threat of relegation looming due to rampant losses.
Author’s insight
From the author’s point of view, the player will be a great addition to the Blues. Although it won’t be easy to get him from their London rivals Spurs.
