Maxx Crosby has joined the Leeds United FC ownership group - ran by the San Francisco 49ers owners

Maxx Crosby has joined up with the San Francisco 49ers enterprise to become a part of the group that owns English Premier League soccer team Leeds United FC

Crosby was drafted to the Oakland Raiders, living in the Bay Area before moving out to Las Vegas when the team relocated in 2020. And while he has a tattoo of the team's logo on his arm, Crosby has become frustrated with the Raiders in recent years, reportedly looking to be traded this offseason and 49ers fans will be excited after he potentially opened the door to joining.

The Raiders want to keep Crosby around, but an incident at the end of the year saw Crosby furious after they had ruled him out for the season against his will. Since then, reports have suggested that Crosby has informed owner Tom Brady that he has no intention of playing for the Raiders moving forward. Meanwhile, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported that Crosby is "most likely done" with the team.

This has seen Crosby's name continue to be in trade talks, with the 49ers one of many teams said to be interested.

And fans have been intrigued to learn of the news that Crosby has joined up with 49ers owner Denis DeBartolo York, to become a part of the ownership team that runs Leeds United.

In confirming the news, Crosby posted: "Winners recognize winners. Proud to invest with Leeds United. All in on culture."

Several athletes are involved in the ownership deal, but Crosby is the only notable NFL player that is not involved with San Francisco.

It means that Crosby has been in talks with the York family who own the 49ers, with the superstar pass-rusher potentially being open to a move to the team.

The 28-year-old has been one of the best defensive ends in the league over the past five years, and would be a welcome addition to San Francisco - who ranked as one of the worst teams to rush the passer in 2025.

New Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak has admitted he wants to keep Crosby with the team, despite the need to significantly strengthen a roster that just finished the year with the worst record in the NFL.

He said: "We want (Crosby) to be a part of our success going forward, no doubt about that. He’s one of the best players in the NFL. It’s a no-brainer.

Maxx Crosby could be a huge difference-maker for the 49ers

"I got to drink a cup of coffee with Maxx this morning. I look forward to continuing those conversations. He was the first one working out here, so that fired me up."

The 49ers would have to part ways with at least a first-round pick, potentially two, for the edge rusher - something San Francisco has shown that they are open to doing in the past.

Their NFC rival Los Angeles Rams may have the upper hand though, having two first-round picks this year that they could move to acquire Crosby.
