Recently, coach Billy Donovan chose to keep Ivey on the bench for the game against the Toronto Raptors.
"I'm not the same player I used to be. That's why. I'm not the J.I. I used to be. The old J.I. is dead. I'm alive in Christ, no matter what the basketball setting is," Ivey addressed his DNP.
Ivey joined the Bulls in a three-way trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves before the February 5 deadline. The deal sent Kevin Huerter to the Detroit Pistons.
So far this season with Chicago, Ivey has played four games, averaging 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds. This season, he also appeared in 33 games for Detroit, averaging 8.2 points in 16.8 minutes per game.
Last year, Ivey had a standout 30-game stretch with the Pistons, averaging 17.6 points, 4.0 assists, and 4.1 rebounds, while shooting 40.9 percent from three.
The Bulls are currently 24-32 on the season.
