The former Liverpool midfielder has made Premier League history with unique achievement.
James Milner departed Liverpool in 2023 after spending eight hugely successful years at the club.
He won all that was available to him during his time with the club including the Champions League and the Premier League.
The veteran midfielder then headed for the south coast, joining and joined Brighton.
With the confirmation of Brighton’s starting eleven for their Premier League fixture against Brentford this afternoon, James Milner now officially stands alone as the all-time record Premier League appearance holder.
His start this afternoon will mark his 654th appearance in the Premier League, moving past Gareth Barry and into first place.
James Milner has now faced or played alongside 49% of players who have ever appeared in the Premier League.
His record is broken down like this: 230 appearances for Liverpool, 147 for Manchester City, 100 for Aston Villa, 94 for Newcastle United, 48 for Leeds United and 35 for Brighton.
A remarkable achievement for a man who personifies longevity in football and at 40 years old, proves that he has what it takes to continue to compete at the highest level.
