Chelsea player ratings vs Burnley as Joao Pedro scores again but Wesley Fofana lets Blues down

Chelsea threw away the chance to strengthen their grip on a place in the top four when they conceded late to draw with Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

Joao Pedro had given the Blues the lead just minutes in, however they failed to build on this and were frustrated for large periods by their relegation-threatened opponents.

Wesley Fofana was sent off in the second half after picking up his second yellow card, and Chelsea were left to regret their missed opportunities when Zion Flemming scored in added time.

It’s getting ridiculous now 😡

How can Liam Rosenior stop this?

Liam Rosenior will be furious with what he’s seen, and Chelsea fans will echo that sentiment. Here’s The Chelsea Chronicle’s player ratings from the 1-1 draw.

Robert Sanchez: 6/10

Didn’t have to work too hard throughout the game until he was picking the ball out of his own net in added time.

Reece James: 7/10

Frequently contributed to the attack in a way that Enzo Maresca was not brave enough to allow, with the skipper helping create an overload in the final third on multiple occasions.

Wesley Fofana: 3/10

Sent off for two clear yellow cards, putting Chelsea in an unfortunate position where they were holding on for the last 20 minutes, which they couldn’t manager

Trevoh Chalobah: 6/10

Defended well for the most part. Chelsea were never really in danger until Fofana was sent off in the latter stages.

Malo Gusto: 6/10

Starting in the unfamiliar left-back position, Malo Gusto didn’t have too many concerns defensively, although was forced inside a lot when on the ball due to being right-footed.

Andrey Santos: 6/10

Kept the ball moving well, although without it creating any real chances. Did the job Rosenior required of him.

Moises Caicedo: 9/10

Played an absolutely delicious pass in behind to set Chelsea on their way for the opening goal. Not afraid to get amongst the tackles either, even though he was caught by a number of tough fouls.

Much, much better from Chelsea’s number 25.

Enzo Fernandez: 6/10

Didn’t offer the attacking threat that has become the norm with his game, although it was his defensive abilities that were being tested late on.

Cole Palmer: 5/10

Didn’t look his usual, composed self in front of goal. Cole Palmer squandered a particularly big chance in the first half where he took the effort on too early.

Pedro Neto: 7/10

Pedro Neto’s perfect cross gave Pedro the simplest task in front of goal. With Estevao Willian suffering from a hamstring problem, it could be a big few weeks for the Portuguese star.

Joao Pedro strikes again!

Joao Pedro: 8/10

His excellent run in front of goal continues, despite a quiet game in the most part.

Rosenior was going to need somebody to rely on in front of goal when he took over the club, and the summer signing is proving to be just that.

Tosin Adarabioyo: 6/10

Was brought on after the red card to try and help Chelsea see out a victory.

Liam Delap: N/A

Jorrel Hato: N/A

Mamadou Sarr: N/A

Josh Acheampong: N/A
