Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw in the Premier League by relegation-threatened Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues got off to a fast start as João Pedro continued his red-hot form four minutes into the game when Moises Caicedo picked out the run of Pedro Neto with a lovely through pass, who then squared it for the Brazilian to tap home his 11th goal of the season.
At the other end, Hannibal Mejbri saw his effort saved by Robert Sanchez before Lesley Ugochukwu flashed a rising strike from an acute angle wide.
Minutes later, Enzo Fernandez’s effort flew over the bar, before Cole Palmer saw his curling effort blocked by Maxime Esteve.
In the 35th minute, Marcus Edwards’ effort from a direct free kick flew wide as Burnley searched for the equaliser.
Palmer squandered a glorious opportunity to double Chelsea’s lead when Kyle Walker’s poor touch from the halfway line allowed the Englishman to run in behind, but his shot from 25 yards out was easily collected by Martin Dubravka.
Immediately after the restart, Palmer could’ve got the host’s second when he was found by João Pedro, but Joe Worrall made a last-ditch block to deny the Englishman.
Minutes later, João Pedro saw his headers from Neto and James’ crosses fly over Dubravka’s bar.
In the 72nd minute, Wesley Fofana was sent off for a second bookable offence, and the Blues went down to 10 men.
The Clarets almost capitalised on the one-man advantage but Josh Laurent saw his deflected strike saved by Sanchez.
At the other end, Jorrel Hato sent his half-volley wide of the near post as the Blues pushed for a second.
In the 87th minute, Esteve thought he had restored parity for the visitors after he met James Ward-Prowse’s free kick, but his header flew just over the bar.
However, deep into stoppage time, Zian Flemming drew Burnley level after he met Ward-Prowse’s cross from a corner, and his header beat Sanchez low to his right.
Moments later, Jacob Bruun Larsen hit the roof of the net from another Ward-Prowse corner.
At the other end, Liam Delap could’ve won it for Chelsea at the death, but his powerful first-time strike flew well over the bar.
Chelsea have moved up to fourth on the Premier League standings, but Manchester United in fifth now have a game in hand, against Everton on Monday night.
