Green Bay Packers: Dontayvion Wicks named dream trade target of NFC rival

The Green Bay Packers, last season, made one of the most shocking transactions in the history of the franchise. Not typically ones to trade away draft capital, Green Bay acquired All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons for two first round picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

And while no Packers fan begrudges the trade, the fact that the team has no first round pick this year or in 2027 has led many to wonder if the team might try to acquire a little extra draft capital.

To that end, one interesting trade proposal from Bleacher Report would give Green Bay an extra draft pick, but would come at the cost of wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks named dream trade target of the Philadelphia Eagles

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (13) finds a seam in the Arizona Cardinals defense during the first quarter of their game against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report recently published an article in which he listed the dream trade target for each NFL team. In it, he named Wicks as the dream target for the Philadelphia Eagles:

“The Eagles don’t have a ton of cap space so they might have to get a little creative to swing a trade that improves them. That being said, Howie Roseman is not a general manager known for sitting on his hands.

“Philadelphia’s offense stalled out in key moments this season. Whether they keep A.J. Brown or not, they need more reliable weapons for Jalen Hurts in the passing game.

“With Sean Mannion coming in as the offensive coordinator, it would make a lot sense for Philadelphia to target a receiver familiar with the coach. The Packers have a ton of depth at receiver and trading Wicks would make sense to clear some cap space and a roster spot.

“The former fifth-round pick has flashed the ability to be a deep threat in the league. He had 581 yards on 39 receptions as a rookie, but his role has dwindled over the last two seasons.

“That could change in an Eagles offense that needs more options.”

In return for Wicks, the Packers would receive a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. This, of course, is one round earlier than that in which Green Bay drafted him.

The presence of Sean Mannion as Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator makes this trade proposal even more realistic. Clearly, he is familiar with Wicks as Mannion spent the last two years on staff in Green Bay.

However, with Romeo Doubs likely not to be retained in free agency, the Packers may not be willing to move Wicks, who is entering the final year of his own rookie contract.

That being said, it will be interesting to see what, if any, moves the Packers make to recoup some draft capital this year.
