Jaxson Dart #6 of the New York Giants
The New York Giants have gone through some drastic changes, with Jaxson Dart taking over as the starting quarterback during the 2025 campaign and a change made at head coach with former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh taking over for Brian Daboll as the new leader on the sideline in the Big Apple.
The future of the storied franchise is looking bright with Harbaugh leading the way, but it will all hinge on whether Dart can reach his true potential under center for the Giants, as he has the talent to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

The one former quarterback who knows what it takes to be successful as the face of the Giants franchise is two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning.
During an appearance on ESPN New York’s DiPietro and Rothenberg, Manning expressed his opinion on Dart and whether he believes the rising star can be a really good quarterback in the NFL.
“It’s a tough situation to say,” Manning said. “I see the ability, and I see the playmaking ability to extend plays, to move in the pocket. He’s got a great presence in the pocket, and now, it’s kind of taking that next step to getting the ball out on time and getting through that second or getting through that third progression, getting through your progressions quicker. That’s kind of the next step for young quarterbacks is, ‘Hey, I have the ability to run, but I don’t want to do that too often. I want to get the ball to the receivers.’
“The one thing about when you hold the ball longer, or you have the ability to extend plays and do those things, what happens is you end up taking more sacks, and you end up taking more hits. And so those are kind of the negative side of that. It’s just kind of finding that sweet spot of, ‘Hey, I need to get the ball out? I need to get completions. I’m fine taking checkdowns. I don’t always have to push the ball down the field.’ If truly nothing’s there, and I feel that I have an extra time of kind of using those moments to extend plays and to make those big plays because they create big plays. You just don’t know which side of the ball is going to get the big play. It can lead to sacks. It can lead to touchdowns. And so, you just got to be careful doing it too often, though.”
During his rookie season with the Giants, Dart showed the ability to be a force to be reckoned with using his legs, as he rushed for 487 yards and a remarkable nine touchdowns in 14 games.
However, he put himself at risk of serious injury multiple times by running too much and getting hit too often, which Manning alludes to because it can be a weapon, but it can also lead to disaster if not used at the right time or once too often.
Brian Daboll Reveals What He Learned From Giants Job

After being fired by the Giants, Daboll has found a new home in the NFL as the new offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans under head coach Robert Saleh.
Daboll was recently asked what he learned from his time with the Giants.
“This is my 26th year in the National Football League,” Daboll said. “There are a lot of things I learned along the way, whether as a defensive assistant, a quarterbacks coach, a receivers coach. You try to do a better job the next place you are at, and my role is to help our football team be the best offense we can be.”
It’ll be interesting to see whether Daboll is better suited as an offensive coordinator than as a head coach, given his success with the Buffalo Bills before taking the job in New York.
