The Boston Celtics have undergone a couple of notable changes over the past few weeks, as the front office was busy swinging deals ahead of the trade deadline. Easily the biggest addition to this team, though, has been former Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, who was picked up in a deal that sent Anfernee Simons the other way.
The C's knew they needed some more frontcourt help at the deadline, which led to them acquiring Vucevic, who has been a longtime trade target for the team. And now that he's finally in town, it sounds like he's thrilled to have joined a team that is in the thick of the playoff hunt this season.
"It's all been very positive," Vucevic said on "Celtics Weekly." "I always enjoyed coming to Boston, visiting when we played against the Celtics. Obviously, one of the best (fanbases) in the NBA. They love the Celtics, and it was always fun to play here, but now it's even better when you have them on your side."
After starting for much of his career, Vucevic has come off the bench in all four games he's played for Boston this season, with Neemias Queta remaining the team's starting center. Vucevic hasn't let that impact his production, though, as he's averaging 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 47.6% from the field.
With Vucevic balancing out the team's rotation, and Jayson Tatum appearing close to making a return to action for the Celtics, this team could be very dangerous come the playoffs. For now, Boston is attempting to hold onto its current spot in the standings, as it will look to continue its winning ways when it squares off against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.
