The Phoenix Suns are in a difficult spot.

Seven minutes into their February 21 matchup against the Orlando Magic, Dillon Brooks went back to the locker room to get his hand checked out.

Eventually, it was revealed that Brooks would not return to the court. He would need further testing to determine the severity of his injury. Not too long after the Suns closed out an overtime victory against the Magic, Brooks was hit with an official diagnosis. It’s going to take some time before Brooks sees the court again.

Phoenix Suns Fans React To Dillon Brooks’ Setback

GettyPhoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks suffered a major injury against the Orlando Magic.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Brooks suffered a broken hand. While there isn’t a timetable worked out just yet, it’s clear that the injury is severe. It will be a while before the standout forward is back.

As expected, Suns fans did not take the news too lightly. Considering just how important Brooks has been for the thriving squad this season, it’s unclear what the future holds for Phoenix this year.

“Why can’t we just have one week with all three of Book, Brooks, and Green healthy,” a fan on Reddit wrote.

“DANG IT BRO I was at the game and I saw him holding it but I never thought it would be a break,” a fan added.

Brooks put up seven shots from the field against Orlando. He made just two of his shots, with one of them falling from beyond the arc.

The veteran finished his night with seven points and three rebounds. Without Brooks and the veteran star Devin Booker, the Suns defeated the Magic 113-110. They advanced to 33-24 on the year.

“Bro, is the WWE writing this season, like WTF?” a fan asked.

“Trying to look at the bright side here…at least he can’t rack up any technicals. Hopefully it’s not a long layoff,” another added.

“In this trying time, it’s important to remember this season, by all means, is already a success,” said an optimistic Suns supporter.

The Suns Have Multiple Setbacks To Worry About

Heading into the matchup against the Magic, the Suns ruled out the multi-time All-Star, Devin Booker. While returning from the All-Star break with a matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, Booker left the game after seeing just under nine minutes of playing time.

When Booker left the court, he had five points off 33 percent shooting from the field. He was ruled out with hip soreness and later diagnosed with a hip strain.

The Suns dropped an official announcement on Booker’s injury before they faced the Magic. Booker is expected to miss at least one week of action. Booker could miss at least three games of action within that timeframe.

After making some major moves over the offseason, the Suns weren’t expected to compete within a tough Western Conference. They’ve had their struggles at times, but Phoenix is having a shockingly successful year at 33-24, which is good for seventh in the West.

Unfortunately for them, Brooks has been a major key to their success. In 49 games, Brooks has shot 34 percent from three and 44 percent from the field, averaging 21.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

It’s unclear if and when Brooks will be back, but the Suns’ season is running short as March is approaching. Clearly, fans are feeling defeated by the news after the win over Orlando.
