The Phoenix Suns suffered a major setback as Dillon Brooks was diagnosed with a broken left hand after their win over the Orlando Magic.
The Phoenix Suns were hit with major injury news after their double-overtime win over the Orlando Magic.
Dillon Brooks left Saturday night's game with an apparent hand injury, and the diagnosis quickly raised concern around the team.
"Phoenix Suns guard Dillon Brooks suffered a broken left hand in Saturday's double-overtime win over the Orlando Magic and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time," ESPN's Shams Charania reported.
Doctors are set to evaluate Brooks on Sunday to decide how long he will be sidelined. The setback adds to Phoenix's injury problems, as the team revealed before Saturday's game that All-Star guard Devin Booker will be out at least one week with a right hip strain suffered against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.
The broken left hand is a serious setback for Phoenix. Brooks is expected to miss significant time, and the timing could not be worse. The Suns are 33–24 and trying to build momentum for a late push in the Western Conference playoff race.
Brooks has been one of the key pieces behind that surge. He is in the middle of the best season of his NBA career, averaging 21.2 points per game. He is shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from three-point range.
