Arsenal are being linked with a rising Bayern Munich star ahead of the summer.

Liverpool could be set to beat Arsenal to a talented youngster this summer. Both clubs are likely to be in the market ahead of next season, albeit to differing degrees, and we could see the Gunners switch strategies this summer after a good few years of massive spending.

The result of that massive spending has been pretty positive, with Arsenal now having a superb squad with immense depth to show for it. But under current Financial Fair Play rules, no club can hope to spend consistently spend hundreds of millions year in, year out.

Arsenal are no exception, and to get ahead of future spending, it would be wise for them to follow the lead of the likes of Chelsea, who have spent the last few years investing in young talent to avoid having to folk out twice or three times as much when that player matures into a top talent.

There have been some indications that Arsenal will turn to that kind of approach, and it is more than likely to be the case, especially given it’s not obvious where the Gunners even need to strengthen their squad when it comes to signing first team players.

One youngster the Gunners have been linked with lately is Bayern Munich wideman Lennart Karl, who has been impressing with Bayern’s youth age groups, and this season, he has forced his way into the first team, making 31 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven times and providing four assists. Remarkably, he is still only 17 years of age.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany has said this season: "Lenny is always dangerous. To be totally honest, he's had better games, but four or five times he's always there, and that's also a strength, and then you don't always have to be the best player on the pitch. He gets his moments and then he just kills."

According to Graeme Bailey, Liverpool are showing a strong interest in the young winger, who Bayern would surely demand a premium for, while he is also on Arsenal’s radar. Though, Liverpool are likely to have a clearer path to being a starter given Arsenal’s abundance of wide options.
