Manchester United have been advised not to sign Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister ‘in a million years’ amid all the speculation and rumours that the Red Devils could make a move in the summer.
According to a story published by the Manchester Evening News, senior United figures are exploring the feasibility of luring the Argentina international to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens.
Mac Allister, who joined Liverpool from Brighton a couple of transfer windows ago, quickly become one of ex-bosses Jürgen Klopp’s most trusted performers, integrating seamlessly into the club’s restructured midfield. His technical range, press-resistance, and ability to operate across multiple central roles have been widely praised, making him a central component of Liverpool’s ongoing rebuild.
The report notes that United’s interest stems from Manchester United’s determination to overhaul his midfield ahead of next season. With uncertainty surrounding the futures of several current United midfielders, club officials are said to be assessing ambitious options capable of elevating the team’s overall quality. Mac Allister, still in his mid-twenties and with significant Premier League and international experience, is seen as fitting that profile.
But Ex-Manchester United defender Paul Parker was surprised by speculation linking Mac Allister with a move to Old Trafford and says it ‘would never work’, and he was asked about United’s reported interest in the Liverpool star, Parker told Pariurix: ‘My first thought is just no, no, no. Not in a million years.
‘I haven’t seen enough reasons why they would get Mac Allister. The club needs a midfielder, maybe even two, but would he be one of those two? I think the answer would be no.
‘It would be a big no for me, and I am 100 per cent sure that he doesn’t even want it to happen either because of where he is playing.
‘He has never said he wants to play for Manchester United. No one would ever be that silly to say that. It would never work out, not in a million years.’
As with many early-summer transfer stories, the situation remains in the realm of speculation. Neither club has issued formal comment on the report, and no negotiations are believed to be underway.
Yet the mere suggestion of Manchester United targeting a Liverpool star ensures the story will attract considerable attention in the weeks ahead, adding early intrigue to what promises to be an eventful transfer window
