From Brazil: New information emerges on reported advanced talks for£30m Liverpool signing

Liverpool have been very heavily linked with a move to sign Palmeiras 19-year-old Allan, but there may be less truth to claims than first thought.

First to break the news was Brazilian outlet The Football, suggesting that Liverpool were ‘beginning to finalise’ negotiations with Palmeiras.

Then Brazilian reporter Robson Morelli reported that a deal to sign the teenager would be done within a few weeks, but it would only be announced after the FIFA World Cup this summer.

The transfer was reported to be worth in the region of £30million, but new claims suggest that these reports are wide of the mark and that Liverpool are not in any advanced talks to sign Allan.

Latest report on Allan suggests he is not heading to Liverpool

Another Brazilian outlet, this time iG Esporte, has rubbished the claims.

Their report states: “Allan, 21, has been the target of strong interest from the European market.

*“However, according to reporting by iG Esporte, Palmeiras has no agreement or advanced negotiations at the moment for the sale of the attacking midfielder, who has been linked to Liverpool in recent days.”*

The report goes on to add that although Allan is likely to leave Palmeiras at some point, given his prodigious talent, it’s true that he will not leave until after the World Cup is over in late July.

Palmeiras consider the 19-year-old to be a top talent and will not let him leave without a high fee. His contract includes an £87m release clause, although they will not be able to extract that type of fee given his age and relative inexperience.

Napoli tried to sign Allan in the January transfer window but were swiftly sent packing.

His manager, Abel Fereira, recently urged Palmeiras not to sell him.

Fereira said: “These are players who give us a lot of trouble. What saddens me is that, when they’re ready, you have to sell them. We had to sell Endrick, Estêvão, Vitor Reis, and now Allan.

“Palmeiras, at this moment, is in a position to choose when it can and cannot sell players. That’s why we worked together with the finance department and the board. The coach is much more than just what happens on the pitch.”

Time will tell if there is any truth to Liverpool talks for Allan. Return to Live4Liverpool for further updates.
