Report: Liverpool have another Spurs star on their radar after Micky van de Ven who would command an 'astronomical' fee

Liverpool are one of the top European sides keeping a close eye on Spurs loanee Luka Vuskovic, and a summer swoop isn’t out of the question.

Spurs have been struggling a lot this season, and as their European ambitions fade, many big clubs are looking at their squad for potential transfer opportunities.

Liverpool are eyeing Micky van de Ven for the same reason, but Vuskovic is a more future-focused target the Reds have identified.

Despite the London side’s bad fortune, they are keen to keep hold of the Croatian.

You get to add one Nottingham Forest player to Liverpool’s squad, who you picking and why?

Anderson, Murillo, Williams, or somebody else?

Any move would not come cheap for Liverpool.

Tottenham want to keep Luka Vuskovic barring a ‘mega bid’

It’s not just Liverpool who like the look of Vuskovic.

A report from SportsBoom details interest in the 18-year-old from Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Man City as well.

His age and potential mean Spurs look at Vuskovic as their ‘long-term defensive cornerstone’. Where the possibility of a transfer opens up is if they need to generate funds to rejig a struggling attack.

The report claims that while Spurs view Vuskovic as untouchable, a bid in the region of £60 million could tempt them to sell late in the summer window.

Liverpool missed out on Vuskovic when he was 16, and would like to rectify that. That being said, this move would be ill-advised for the Reds.

Liverpool have their young centre-backs, need a Micky van de Ven

Not necessarily saying it has to be Van de Ven, but it’s a player at that stage of their career who Liverpool need to target.

Sure, Vuskovic is top class. He has been dubbed the best defensive prospect to come out of Croatia since Josko Gvardiol. At 6’5″, he’s physically imposing, dominant in the air but also a technico can play out from the back.

Gvardiol himself has sang the praises of his fellow countryman.

Pick one player you’d re-sign – Luis Diaz or Trent Alexander-Arnold?

But with Giovanni Leoni coming back and Jeremy Jacquet arriving at Liverpool in the summer, another project defender won’t cut it if Ibrahima Konate needs replacing.

If the report is correct and £60 million is the fee needed, it’s not viable for the Reds. They could spend that same money on an elite ready-to-go signing.
