Joao Pedro has been very honest about Wesley Fofana after his red card against Burnley

Wesley Fofana and Zian Flemming ended up spoiling what should have been a good Saturday for Chelsea forward Joao Pedro.

Pedro scored what had appeared to be the winner for Chelsea in their Premier League clash against Burnley.

However, Flemming managed to equalise right at the death to make sure the points were shared.

How are we calling Arsenal bottlers? 🤦‍♂️

What does Liam Rosenior need to do to change this?

His equaliser came after Fofana had been sent off following two yellow-card offences.

Joao Pedro admits Wesley Fofana made things difficult for Chelsea during Burnley draw

Pedro is not putting all of the blame on Fofana, feeling that Chelsea should have gone 2-0 up before the defender’s dismissal.

Nevertheless, he has still admitted that his teammate made things much harder for everyone else by getting sent off.

On Fofana’s red card, Pedro said via Chelsea’s official club website: “I think the red card made things difficult but we still had enough about us to get the win. Before the red card, we should have put the game to bed.

“When you go to a man less, of course things get more difficult. I didn’t really see the incident too clearly, but we need to learn how to manage the game in those situations because, regardless of having a man less, we are Chelsea and these type of games at home we have to win.”

It’s getting ridiculous now 😡

How can Liam Rosenior stop this?

It was the Blues’ eighth red card of the season, pointing towards some sort of disciplinary issue in the squad.

With it being a really tight race for Champions League qualification, it is something that Liam Rosenior needs to address quickly. Fofana will now miss the Arsenal game next Sunday because of suspension.

Wesley Fofana’s disciplinary record this season

All of these red cards will frustrate Chelsea fans, but they should not be too harsh on Fofana. His overall disciplinary record is pretty good.

In 26 appearances this season, Fofana has only picked up three yellow cards, which is surprising for a central defender.

Ultimately, he had been quite disciplined up until his sending off against Burnley on Saturday.

Even so, eight red cards in a single campaign is way too many. Rosenior needs to find a way to fix this because Chelsea cannot keep playing games with 10 men and hope to finish in the top four.

They are there for now, but that will change if Manchester United earn at least a point from their match against Everton on Monday. Lose that, and Chelsea’s point against Burnley could end up being a good one.
