Report: Chelsea could do early transfer deal that's likely to cost them over £100m this summer

Chelsea continue to be linked with Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, who could be on his way out of the Spanish club this summer.

Earlier this month, it was claimed that Chelsea have already held discussions about signing Alvarez.

The Blues already have Joao Pedro, who is on fire right now. The Brazilian scored once again in his side’s 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday.

However, it looks like the club are still more than open to bringing in another striker when the transfer window opens.

Atletico Madrid won’t be drawn into long Julian Alvarez saga amid Chelsea interest

In a boost to Chelsea, Atletico Madrid want to sell Alvarez as soon as possible if it is the 26-year-old’s desire to leave the Spanish capital.

According to TEAMtalk, Atletico have made it clear to Alvarez that they will not allow his future to become a summer-long saga.

It means Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona or any other club interested in Alvarez may be able to agree a deal with Atletico early in the transfer window.

However, Alvarez will not come cheap. The same report claims that Atletico want more than £100m for their talisman.

After scoring 42 goals since his arrival at the club last season, though, he could be worth it. It is a lot of money, but it is thought that Chelsea are ready to “break the bank” to land Alvarez.

Julian Alvarez’s preference this summer

There is clearly a willingness on Atletico’s part to sell Alvarez, but that does not mean Chelsea are going to sign him.

It is believed that Alvarez wants to join Barcelona, which gives the Catalan club an upper hand.

However, Alvarez is not ruling out a return to England, so Chelsea are still in with a shout of signing the Argentina international.

With Atletico not wanting this to become a saga, it may not be long until everyone finds out Alvarez’s next club if he does decide to leave the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
