Liam Rosenior was frustrated after seeing his side drop points for the second time in a row. He’s noted a problem that’s recurred.
Chelsea were in control of yesterday’s game against Burnley, but a red card changed the momentum, and they ended up drawing.
After the game, a frustrated Liam Rosenior spoke about his thoughts on the game:
“Up until the red card, I felt it was wave after wave of attack [in the second half]. We didn’t make the right decision for the moments that we created and we didn’t finish off the game when we should have. When you don’t do that, you leave yourself open,” the manager said in quotes picked up by the club’s official website.
That’s perhaps a little generous. We dominated the ball, but wave after wave of attacks isn’t quite how we saw it. How many times did we really test the goalkeeper?

Regardless, Rosenior knows where this team has let him down already in his time at the club:
“There’s too many instances, even in my time here. Wolves away, Crystal Palace away, Leeds at home, today, where we’ve conceded goals from moments of lack of concentration, lack of accountability. If we want to maximise the potential, which I know is there, we have to address that very quickly.’
In other news…
Rosenior also insisted that he was “learning” a lot about his Chelsea group and who he could rely on. That’s an important part of the rest of this season.
Striker Joao Pedro insisted that the red card wasn’t main factor in how the game changed – we’d have to disagree with that, despite there clearly being other elements to it.
