Naomi Girma's First Goal for Chelsea Women Secures Extra-Time Victory

Naomi Girma’s first goal for Chelsea Women secured an extra-time victory over Manchester United in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Fifth Round.

West Ham United 1-2 Brighton & Hove Albion

Arsenal 3-0 Bristol City

Chelsea v Manchester United. Erin Cuthbert brought a super save out of Phallon Tullis-Joyce and from the resulting corner Dominique Janssen cleared off the line. Chelsea retook the lead in extra-time, Naomi Girma with the close-range finish after Veerle Buurman’s header was tipped onto the upright.

Oxford United kept Charlton Athletic at bay until the 75th minute, when Grace Palmer was dismissed for handball in the box and Lucy Fitzgerald put away the resulting penalty.

Fran Kirby gave Brighton an early lead at West Ham and set up Kiko Seike to make it 2–0 with 20 minutes played. Leila Wandeler replied after 75 minutes to threaten a repeat of the recent Hammers’ fightback against Albion Brighton had done enough for the victory this time.

Kim Little got a 25th-minute breakthrough goal for Arsenal over Bristol City and just after the hour mark Victoria Pelova struck to double the lead from outside the box. Frida Maanum completed the scoring at 3-0 in the second half.

Manchester City progressed 4-0 past Sheffield United, after Lauren Hemp bagged an early brace, Iman Beney assisting with both. Aoba Fujino and Laura Coombs added a goal apiece.

The draw for the Quarter Finals will take place on Monday 23 February ahead of the London City Lionesses v Tottenham Hotspur fifth round fixture. For the first time this season, this will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1 as well as streamed on the Adobe Women’s FA Cup YouTube channel, TNT Sports Football YouTube and Channel 4 Sport YouTube.
