Boston Celtics center Neemias Queta just received a nice compliment from Bleacher Report's NBA writer Greg Swartz. Swartz labeled Queta Boston's "hidden gem" on a roster that has plenty of talent.
"Boston Celtics fans know all about Neemias Queta, although he still hasn't gotten the love he deserves on a national scale," Swartz wrote on Saturday.
"A big reason why the Celtics have surprised many with their 35-19 start, Queta has started all but one game at center while averaging 9.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks while shooting 63.9 percent overall in just 25.1 minutes."
"The 7-footer has been a defensive force in the middle, as Boston has allowed 10.9 fewer points per 100 possessions with Queta on the floor."
Queta has delivered a strong campaign for the Celtics this season. Through 52 games, with 51 starts, the 7-foot Portuguese center is averaging 9.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.3 blocks in 25.0 minutes per night.
Queta is shooting 64.0 percent from the field on 6.5 attempts per game, adding efficient interior presence and rebounding tenacity that have helped stabilize the frontcourt. Recent outings include a 10-point, 19-rebound, five-block effort in early February and consistent double-digit rebound totals in several wins.
Drafted 39th overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2021, Queta has appeared in 162 regular-season games across five NBA seasons.
He contributed to the Celtics’ 2024 championship as a reserve, logging three playoff appearances. Now 26, Queta provides reliable size, defense and energy that fit seamlessly into Boston’s rotation as the team pushes through the season.
