Chiefs' wide receiver Hollywood Brown shared some heartbreaking messages in the wake of Vikings' wide receiver Rondale Moore's death

The Kansas City Chiefs have had a fairly aggressive start to the offseason. In the wake of missing the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era, head coach Andy Reid has worked to revamp his coaching staff over the past few weeks. If all goes according to plan, this group will be able to help elevate the collective talent of the team’s roster.

On Saturday night, the NFL community was dealt some devastating news, as it was revealed that Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore had passed away at the age of 25. This news hit Chiefs’ wide receiver Hollywood Brown particularly hard, as the two were former teammates during their time with the Arizona Cardinals. In the wake of Moore’s passing, Brown shared some heartbreaking messages on social media.

I love you bro 🙏🏿 I always wanted to speak life into you fam

Moore was selected by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he eventually ended up becoming teammates with Brown after he was acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens. For two seasons, Brown and Moore were running mates in Arizona, as they were two of Kyler Murray’s top targets in the passing game.

After the 2023 season, both guys headed elsewhere, as Brown signed with the Chiefs in free agency, while Moore was traded to the Atlanta Falcons. Neither guy played much in 2024, as Moore missed the entire year with a knee injury, while Brown only suited up in two regular-season games thanks to a shoulder injury.

Brown missed only one game in 2025 with Kansas City, but Moore once again suffered a season-ending knee injury over the summer, this time as a member of the Vikings. With reports indicating that Moore’s death was the cause of self-inflicted gunshot wounds, Brown took to social media to share a series of crushing messages as he grappled with the news of his former teammate’s death.

“Bro ain’t no way brotha you just messaged me few hours ago 😢,” Brown said in a series of posts on X. “You wasn’t alone bro. I told you I know how you feel … I love you bro 🙏🏿 I always wanted to speak life into you fam.”

Moore’s struggle with injuries was tough to watch, and Brown did his best to attempt to show support for him during his trying times. Brown himself dealt with a serious injury in 2024, so while he knew what Moore was going through in that regard, sometimes there are things going on underneath the surface that nobody knows about.

The passing of Moore has rocked the NFL community, with Brown being one of just several hundred folks across the league who came in contact with the talented young playmaker. The Chiefs, like every other team in the league, are mourning Moore’s death, but the franchise will surely look to give Brown some extra support as he deals with the loss of his close friend.
