Christian Gonzalez has his eyes on a potential future opponent.
The star New England Patriots cornerback looked forward to seeing a top 2026 NFL Draft prospect enter the league. Gonzalez explained his connection to Jordyn Tyson, per ESPN's Roman Modrowski, and has high expectations for the Arizona State wide receiver.
"He's from the same area as me, near Dallas," Gonzalez said. "And we have the same agent. So I got to know him a little bit. Great guy, great athlete. Excited to see him in this league, and he's going to be a great player."
Tyson showcased his lofty ceiling by scoring 19 touchdowns in 21 games over the last two seasons. He averaged 86.5 yards per game and 13.3 yards per catch during that span for the Sun Devils.
The 6-foot-2 Tyson could provide whoever drafts him with an extremely explosive playmaker. Injury concerns could scare off some teams, but the chances of Tyson falling to New England's No. 31 pick remain minuscule.
ESPN's Field Yates predicted the New Orleans Saints to him at No. 8. NFL.com's Lance Zierlein has Tyson slipping to No. 20, with each pundit linking the Patriots to an offensive lineman.
Drake Maye can use another big-play receiving threat, but it's more likely that Gonzalez eventually has to cover Tyson in a tantalizing head-to-head matchup. The NFL Draft starts on Thursday, April 23.
