The New York Knicks pulled off one of their most successful wins of the season on Saturday night, erasing an 18-point deficit to come back and beat the Houston Rockets at Madison Square Garden 108-106.
Jalen Brunson put on the captain clutch cape in the fourth quarter, knocking down four straight shots, including the go-ahead. But the comeback wouldn't have started in the first place if it weren't for Karl-Anthony Towns.
Knicks head coach Mike Brown gave the credit to Towns after the game for rallying the team in the locker room at halftime, and said New York wouldn't have pulled off the win without his message.
Karl-Anthony Towns rallied Knicks at a low point, according to Mike Brown
SNY's Knicks insider Ian Begley shared what went on with the Knicks throughout the second half.
"Mike Brown said Karl-Anthony Towns had a message in huddle at beginning of 4th: 'At the end of the day it starts defensively .. we’ve gotta start with getting a stop,'" wrote Begley in a post on X.
"Towns ‘led charge on that end’ with defense on Alperen Sengun, per Brown. Brown also said assistant Rick Brunson suggested putting Jose Alvarado on the floor in the fourth quarter."
Not only did Towns set the tone for New York with his defense, but he also had one of his most efficient games on offense, shooting 10 of 15 from the floor, scoring 25 points.
Credit it to assistant coach Rick Brunson as well, more, making the Jose Alvarado adjustment. The recent acquisition ended with five steals on the night.
It was a great win for the Knicks, and certainly one they needed after getting blown off the court by the Detroit Pistons a few nights ago.
