The Portugal star has had to be patient since returning on loan in the January transfer window but put in a strong performance and was happy with his outing.
Cancelo also spoke about his manager and says Hansi Flick is the most demanding coach he has ever worked with.
> “I think Hansi is the most demanding coach I’ve ever had in my career. But I love that, I love that kind of challenge and commitment,” he told Movistar.
>
> “Hansi asks a lot of me in terms of dribbles and penetrations, and that’s what I always try to do for the good of the team.
>
> ”When I arrived, I wasn’t in my best physical shape, and I admit it. I wasn’t like my teammates. Little by little, I’m getting back to my level. It’s a match that gives me confidence to keep going.”
Cancelo also said it was the best game since returning to Barcelona and that he is finding his form.
> ”Yes, it was my best game since coming back. I took advantage of the opportunity when the manager put me in. I felt like I was training really well. Then everything came together in the game,” he added.
> ”I’m an attacking full-back, as you know. The three points were important, and I think we played a good game. Now it’s back to work because the next match against Villarreal was crucial.
>
> “Football always gives you a chance to respond. That’s what we did today after two bad games. Against an opponent with good players, although I know they’re very low in the table, but the league is very tough.”
Cancelo took over from Alejandro Balde at left-back and grabbed his first assist since returning by teeing up Frenkie de Jong for Barcelona’s second goal.
