Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points after a 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby.
The league leaders bounced back from a deflating draw at Wolves in midweek with the perfect response against their arch-rivals, with Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres on target twice for the visitors.
Eze had scored a hat-trick in the reverse fixture at the Emirates and continued his scoring streak against Spurs with the opener.
The 27-year-old volleyed Arsenal ahead after Bukayo Saka's cross flicked up invitingly, but Spurs struck back immediately. Declan Rice was caught in possession in a dangerous area, with Randal Kolo Muani firing home to equalise just 24 seconds after the restart.
Having won just two of their previous seven league games, Arsenal needed a response and got one. Viktor Gyokeres' restored their lead just two minutes into the second half, with the Swedish striker taking a touch to set himself before whipping a finish beyond Guglielmo Vicario.
Eze then made the result safe just after the hour. After an Arsenal break, the midfielder followed up Bukayo Saka's effort to score his fifth goal against Spurs this season.
A perfect afternoon for Arsenal was completed when Gyokeres netted a late fourth. The forward was too strong for Archie Gray before burying another finish past Vicario.
For Arsenal, it was a perfect response to the critics who had questioned their title credentials. The build-up had centred around recent dropped point and whether Arsenal had the mentality to get over the line this season.
With Manchester City in close pursuit and beating Newcastle on Saturday night, the leaders emphatically answered. Tougher tests than a sorry Spurs side are still to come, but this was a big step in the right direction. The Gunners, for now, remain in control of the Premier League title race.
