Lakers vs. Celtics: The matchup

The Celtics are 2.5-point favorites in LA as they come off a 121-110 win against the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco on Thursday and back-to-back off days to prepare for a busy stretch ahead. Boston has been one of the NBA’s best stories of the season with its 36-19 record despite being down superstar Jayson Tatum, and now the Celtics are also one of the league’s hottest teams. Since starting the season with a 5-7 mark through 12 games, the Celtics are 31-12 since then and 7-1 over their past eight.

The Lakers held off the LA Clippers on Saturday to open the second half of their season with a much-needed win (125-122) that featured rare appearances by all three of their top players. Luka Doncic went for 38 points and 11 assists in the win, while Austin Reaves scored 29 and LeBron James logged 13 points and 11 assists. With that win, the Lakers stayed atop the Western Conference’s Pacific Division and inside the top-6 in the West with their 34-21 record.
