**Despite his agent publishing a statement to the contrary, it looks as though AS Roma star Zeki Celik will leave AS Roma this summer amid links to Liverpool.**
Liverpool have battled to keep suitable options available to play at right back this season, with Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong both on the sidelines with injury.
Bizarrely, Arne Slot refuses to play Joe Gomez at right back but regardless, Liverpool look likely to once again move into the right back transfer market this summer.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has left a sizeable hole in the role even if his defending left a lot to be desired.
A recent claim from [Marco Conterio](https://x.com/marcoconterio/status/2018713933301928029?s=20) suggests Liverpool are one of the clubs considering signing Celik.
He wrote: _“Roma must make a renewal offer to Zeki Celik: the Turk has prioritised the renewal and the Giallorossi club, but he’s already had several inquiries, including Liverpool.”_
Despite a statement from his agent, Celik appears likely to leave AS Roma this summer
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Celik’s agent has since published a statement denying that any agreements have been reached.
_“Rumours that Zeki has reached an agreement with a club are inaccurate,”_ Ozdemir says. _“He currently plays for a major club, and it’s natural for major teams in Italy and England to show interest in a player competing at this level and for his name to be associated with those clubs._
_“His contract with Roma expires at the end of the season; however, he has great respect for the club. At this stage, he is not focusing on contractual or transfer issues._
_“His full attention and commitment are focused on supporting Roma in achieving its objectives. We believe all other matters will be addressed and resolved in due course, in a professional and respectful manner.”_
Liverpool have a lot to do in the transfer market this summer despite their £460m splurge last year.
Frimpong is gifted but doesn’t appear to be reliable fitness-wise, and so Liverpool may well move into the market to sign another right-back, with Bradley’s long-term fitness not guaranteed after having major surgery on his knee.
