**_LONDON_**: Eberechi Eze regained his magic touch in front of goal – and Thomas Tuchel – with perfect timing.
His two goals in Arsenal’s deserved 4:1 win up the road at Tottenham kept the Gunners running five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. There were two goals also for Victor Gyokeres as the Gunners celebrated their fifth successive derby win.
Manager Mikel Arteta had recalled summer signing Eze to try to enliven attack after only two wins in Arsenal’s previous seven league games. The Gunners had snatched the England forward from Spurs’ grasp on deadline day and he rewarded Arteta’s faith in the 32nd and 61st minutes. Eze’s opening goal was his first shot on target in the league since his hat-trick against Tottenham last November.
Tottenham provided new manager Igor Tudor with brief hope when Randal Kolo Muani punished a mistake by Declan Rice. The Frenchman had scored five goals in 11 games under Tudor at Juventus last season but the equaliser was his first league goal for Spurs since he arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in August.
Arsenal were stung into attacking the second half with renewed determination and regained the lead through Gyokeres after only two minutes. The Sweden striker was played in by Jurrien Timber for his ninth league goal of the season.
This time Arsenal were careful to keep their focus and avoid a repeat of their midweek sloppiness when they conceded two late goals for a 2-2 draw away to bottom club Wolves. Further goals from Eze and Gyokeres duly delivered their biggest win at Tottenham since 1978.
