Security Bans Anti-Chelsea Banner From Strasbourg Stadium: Reports

According to emerging reports on Sunday night, the Ultra Boys 90 group of Strasbourg fans were not allowed into the Stade de la Meinau with a banner that mentioned Chelsea. Fans say security told them the word “Chelsea” is not allowed in the stadium, which prevented them from displaying their protest message during the Ligue 1 game against Lyon.

The banner said: “Chelsea ne décide pas de ce qu’il se passe au Racing. 1.09.2024,” which means “Chelsea doesn’t decide what happens at Racing.”

The incident happened before Strasbourg’s game against Olympique Lyonnais on February 22, 2026. It shows that tensions remain high between fans and the club’s ownership structure under the BlueCo consortium.

BlueCo, which is led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, bought almost all of Strasbourg in June 2023 for a reported €75 million. This was about 17 months after they bought Chelsea. Fans of Strasbourg have been protesting against BlueCo since the new owners took over. They think their club has become a subsidiary of Chelsea instead of staying independent.

The club have put strict rules in place to keep an eye on fans’ actions. For example, fans can no longer make tifos and banners in the stadium, and they must be accompanied by security when they enter the stadium. The situation has gotten worse since the club announced that Emmanuel Emegha would be moving to Chelsea, prompting fans to put up signs calling the striker a “BlueCo pawn.”

Alsatians End Lyon’s 13-Game Winning Streak With Emphatic 3-1 Victory

Strasbourg ruled the Stade de la Meinau on Sunday night, ending Lyon’s impressive winning streak with a 3-1 victory. Gary O’Neil’s Alsatians made it clear from the start that they wanted to end Lyon’s 13-game winning streak. Martial Godo and Diego Moreira scored two goals for the hosts, but Corentin Tolisso cut the lead in half in the second half.

In the 57th minute, Lyon captain Tolisso scored to make it 2–1, putting Paulo Fonseca’s team in danger of losing their first game since the start of the year. But Joaquin Panichelli of Strasbourg, the team’s top scorer with 12 league goals this season, scored from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time, giving the seventh-placed Alsatians a crucial win.

Strasbourg now have 31 points, which keeps them firmly in the running for a spot in Europe. Lyon, on the other hand, have 45 points and are still in third place, but their momentum has come to a screeching halt.
