The Boston Celtics are currently in the middle of a battle against the Los Angeles Lakers. Earlier on Saturday, though, there was another battle between Team USA and Canada in the men's hockey gold medal game at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Americans prevailed 2-1 in overtime thanks to a game-winning goal from New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes.
Late in the third period, Hughes ended up drawing a penalty on Sam Bennett when he drew a high stick to the face. Hughes was bleeding, and cameras showed that his teeth had taken some damage from Bennett's stick. In the wake of Hughes scoring the game-winning goal, the Celtics shared a photo of Derrick White from the 2024 NBA Finals after he chipped his tooth in a collision on the court.

In Game 5 of the 2024 Finals, White found himself on the ground already, only for Dallas Mavericks big man Dereck Lively II to come toppling on top of him. White's head hit the ground hard, and he quickly scrambled to find part of his tooth, which had gotten knocked out of his mouth by the parquet at TD Garden.
Similar to Hughes, though, White helped lead his team to victory, as the Celtics would go on to clinch a championship by defeating the Mavs in this contest. There's always a price to pay when it comes to winning big games in the world of sports, and for White and Hughes, that price surprisingly ended up being their pearly whites.
