Payton Pritchard looks right at home coming off the Celtics bench again and he’s making life miserable for opposing defenses.
The backup guard erupted for 30 points and a team-high eight assists in 38 minutes on Sunday night, helping lead Boston to a 111-89 rout of the Lakers at [Crypto.com](http://Crypto.com) Arena. The stellar performance earned Pritchard Sunday’s “Name to Know” Player of the Game. Pritchard feasted on the Lakers defense all night long as he served as a spark for Boston since entering the game midway through the first quarter. He shot 10-of-14 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range and was a team-best plus-21 in his 38 minutes. The performance helped the visitors run away with the game in the fourth quarter as Boston ended the game on a 26-12 run, turning a tight game into a blowout in the last few minutes.
Pritchard has now scored 20 points or more in six games of his seven games since returning to a bench role following the trade of Anfernee Simons earlier this month. He’s averaging 23.6 points per game since that transition while shooting 54.4 percent from the field and 46.6 percent from 3-point range.
Boston has gone 6-1 in those games and have won eight of their last nine contests overall with seven of those victories coming by double digits.
Boston improved to 2-0 on their current road trip with the victory with another test looming on Tuesday night against the Suns in Phoenix.
