Athletic Club and Spanish international Nico Williams is once again being linked with a move to Arsenal.
Williams has been a long-term target for the Gunners, as well as a number of other major clubs across Europe,
However, having signed a long-term deal with his current side in the summer until 2033, all such speculation appear to have ended.
That situation now appears to have changed, with suggestions that his contract contains a release clause of around £86 million. Williams, although not actively agitating for a move, would consider a switch to a club which can offer him the Champions League football, and the opportunity to challenge for silverware on a regular basis.
One issue that may deter Arsenal and other clubs though are his salary demands. When signing his new deal with Athletic he secured a substantial wage increase, and he is likely to want to be among the Premier League’s top earners.
