Lakers legend takes shot at Luka Doncic, slams team's effort

Lakers legend James Worthy didn't hold back after Los Angeles' 111‑89 loss to the Celtics, calling the team no heart and criticizing their effort. He also took a subtle jab at Luka Doncic, pointing out the team's complaints to referees and questioning their mental toughness and pride.

Los Angeles Lakers legend James Worthy did not hold back after Los Angeles suffered a 111‑89 blowout loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday.

Speaking on Spectrum SportsNet's postgame show, Worthy questioned the team's effort, pride, and even appeared to take a subtle jab at Luka Doncic.

"No heart. Weak," Worthy said, summarizing the Lakers' performance. "It's the Boston Celtics without Tatum. You're at home. To me, you show no respect for the uniform. When you come out and get outrebounded like that. They sniffed a weakness and dominated."

The Lakers allowed Boston to score 17 second-chance points off nine offensive rebounds, a stretch that proved demoralizing. Worthy was particularly disappointed that this happened on a night when the team celebrated Pat Riley with a statue unveiling at Staples Center.

"They've got to decide who they want to be," Worthy said. "To come out at home with no [heart] was just tough to watch."

He also addressed the Lakers' complaints to the referees during the game. While Austin Reaves, Marcus Smart, and head coach JJ Redick received technical fouls, Luka was also seen disputing multiple calls.

"As a player when you kind of know you're defeated," Worthy said, via Lakers Daily. "You start to complain and you start to b**ch and moan and start looking at the referees."
