Chelsea fans are all discussing Mamadou Sarr ahead of Arsenal

Mamadou Sarr and Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back from their disappointing draw with Burnley when they take on Arsenal this Sunday.

Chelsea were 1-0 up against Burnley but conceded a goal in stoppage time, resulting in them dropping more points from a leading position at home.

Of course, they were not helped by Wesley Fofana’s red card, their eighth of the season.

It means that the Frenchman will now be suspended for his side’s trip to the Emirates at the weekend.

Chelsea fans want to see Mamadou Sarr start against Arsenal

With Fofana out of the game, Sarr is one option that Liam Rosenior could turn to, with Trevoh Chalobah likely to continue in the other centre-back spot.

It is a move that Chelsea supporters would back. Many of them have already told The Chelsea Chronicle on TalkingPoints that they want Sarr to come in for Fofana.

Asked who should replace the suspended Fofana for the trip to Arsenal, one Chelsea fan said: “Chalobah, Sarr”.

Another urged Rosenior to gamble and start both the 20-year-old and Josh Acheampong. “Take a risk, play Josh and Sarr together.”

Another supporter would be happy to see either. They said: “Gotta be Sarr or Josh. Most likely Josh since he’s used to the pace.”

Another Chelsea fan simply responded, “Sarr”, while one other TalkingPoints user has been very encouraged by the defender’s passing.

They said: “Sarr for me should come in defo coz he’s got some class about him who’s such a good passer of the ball.”

Enzo Maresca felt that Sarr needed time to adapt to English football, but Rosenior clearly feels he is ready after using him in the Premier League and FA Cup.

Benoit Badiashile more likely to start

Sarr did well in his first start for Chelsea this season, impressing in their 4-0 victory over Hull City in the FA Cup.

However, this Arsenal game is a huge one. With that in mind, Rosenior may go with a more proven option like Benoit Badiashile if the France international is fit.

Badiashile was not part of Chelsea’s matchday squad over the weekend, but an injury has not been mentioned so he should be available for the London derby.
