Man United have been linked to signing a Wolves star in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils’ recruitment has been a big part of Carrick’s success, with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha really performing. United’s mantra last summer was to sign players who are proven performers in the Premier League, and it has really worked for them.

It is understood that after pinching Cunha from Wolves last summer, the Red Devils are targeting a fellow Wolves player in the summer, who could be cheap, assuming they suffer relegation.

PSG join the race for Mane

The 18-year-old would be an excellent signing for United, but they will face some stiff competition, as Chelsea and Man City have both been linked to him as well. It isn’t just competition from the Premier League either, as according to TeamTalk, Champions League winners PSG are eyeing a move for the attacker.

It isn’t understood yet how much Wolves will demand for Mane, but, seeing as they are almost destined to suffer relegation, his value could drop, meaning that United might be able to sign him on a cheap deal. The English attacker can play as a centre-midfielder or as a striker, making him very versatile. Whoever is manager at Old Trafford could mould him into the sort of player he wants, which is a very useful trait to have.

Mane could be United’s long-term Fernandes replacement

One of the things that Man United need to consider is the future of Bruno Fernandes too, as the Portuguese national’s contract is due to expire at the end of next season, meaning that the Red Devils will need to sell him in the summer if they want to get some form of return financially.

Whether United sell Fernandes this summer or not, Mane could be his long-term replacement, seeing as his best position is as a number 10, playing centrally behind a striker. The 18-year-old could play Fernandes’ role, alongside the likes of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu, and could help be a big part of United’s attack over the coming years.

This season, he has made 17 Premier League appearances for Wolves, scoring two goals and providing two assists. He has also appeared heavily for their U21s side, scoring five goals and providing five assists.
