Patriots Should Sign Giants Breakout Stud If They Miss Out On Alec Pierce

The [New England Patriots](https://nesn.com/new-england-patriots) could use more help in the receiver room, and there are plenty of solid options available in free agency.

Free agent receiver Alec Pierce would seemingly be a great fit for the Patriots. He is an elite deep threat and just had a breakout season. He had 1,003 receiving yards and six touchdowns for the Indianapolis Colts. He had 1,827 yards and 13 touchdowns in the last two seasons, leading the league in yards per reception in both seasons as well.

However, where could the Patriots look if Pierce signs elsewhere? Wan'Dale Robinson of the New York Giants could be the answer. Just like Pierce, he just posted his first 1,000-yard season for the Giants, despite shaky quarterback play. Jaxson Dart played fine as a rookie, but Russell Wilson and Dart's injuries likely kept Robinson from putting up even better numbers.

Robinson stepped up big time after Malik Nabers suffered a season-ending injury. He had 1,014 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He had 699 yards and three touchdowns in the previous season. He was the Giants' best catcher by a wide margin last season.

Given Stefon Diggs' high cap hit, he could be a cut candidate this offseason. Robinson could step in right away as a top target for Drake Maye. However, Rbinson would be an asset even if Diggs stays.

Three of Robinson's four touchdowns were from at least 30 yards out. He is a big play threat who has solid speed to stress defenses. He had 386 yards after the catch last season, which was more than any player on the Patriots. He could thrive in New England with Maye and Josh McDaniels' system.
