Aston Villa Targets Chelsea Star as a Replacement

Aston Villa are looking to sign a Chelsea player at the end of the season as a replacement. Unai Emery is looking to add Trevor Chalobah into his squad as a good option for his backline. Aston Villa are currently on a bad run of form, as they haven’t secured a win in their last two games. It would be interesting to see how Trevor Chalobah affects Unai Emery’s squad.

The Midlands giants want to bolster Unai Emery’s defense with a new center-back in the upcoming transfer window. The 26-year-old is seen as the ideal replacement for Tyrone Mings. The 32-year-old has spent much of this season out with thigh problems, and issues continue to surround the major knee injury he suffered in 2023. Chalobah has missed just one game for Chelsea in the Premier League this season, and sources close to Villa say he is seen as a younger, more mobile replacement for Mings.

Despite Mings’ injury issues, the defender continues to feature among Unai Emery’s first choices in his defense. Whether that is a positive towards the 32 year old or a negative on Villa’s other options. However, is up for debate. There are few doubts about Ezri Konsa’s position in the team. With the 28 year old proving his quality both through his performances for the Villans and for England.

Past that, Emery’s options become far more limited. Victor Lindelof joined on a free transfer in the summer and has likely played more frequently than both he and his manager would have expected.

Another Villa player can leave if the Chelsea player joins.

The 28-year-old made a surprise return to Villa Park as he continued to struggle on loan at AS Roma. Since then, Unai Emery has trusted him with solid minutes in the Premier League. Bailey has yet to repay him with any goal contributions, though. With 61 minutes against the Whites this time out, it might have been his worst performance since coming back from Italy.

Even the commentators were furious with the Jamaican international as they watched him walk back to his own half after losing possession, with Ollie Watkins beating him to the defensive work. Just moments later, he had been replaced by Jardon Sancho. A substitution that changed the game for the better against Leeds. Tammy Abraham found a much-needed equaliser in the 89th minute. Being told that he must “never wear the shirt again” after the draw with Leeds, Bailey does not appear to have a way back in terms of earning the supporters’ love and respect.

Chalobah’s recent games with the London giants

Flemming headed in from a James Ward‑Prowse corner in the 93rd minute after Chelsea had lost control of the match following Wesley Fofana’s dismissal. The hosts had dominated until the defender’s 72nd‑minute second yellow card for a tackle on Ward Prowse. Having taken the lead through Joao Pedro in the fourth minute.

But there will be an inquest, as Chelsea have dropped a league high 17 points from winning positions at home this season. They also have six red cards, more than any other team in the Premier League and eight in all competitions.

Cole Palmer nearly capitalized on a mistake by Kyle Walker on the halfway line but failed to lift his shot over Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. With two further efforts in the half also blocked. Burnley’s only real chance in the first half came when Lesley Ugochukwu volleyed over from a corner awarded under a new rule. Flemming was unmarked when he headed his dramatic leveler. Substitute Jacob Bruun Larsen missed a similar chance minutes later, with Chelsea supporters booing their team off after the final whistle.

From the author’s point of view, it would be better for Chalobah if he joined Aston Villa. As Unai Emery can give him his much desired game time.
