The Charlotte Hornets came into Sunday evening's game against the Washington Wizards in desperate need of a victory.
Following the All-Star break, they had lost consecutive matchups to the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers, still missing Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate due to suspension.
That said, their help wasn't needed Sunday as Kon Knueppel and LaMelo Ball put on a show in what ended as a 17-point road victory.
Knueppel starred again, finishing with 28 points on 10-for-18 shooting to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.
However, it was Ball's shooting that took all the headlines. Ball finished with a game-high 37 points on 10-for-15 shooting from three-point range. Ball also added eight rebounds and seven assists with no turnovers.
With 10 three-pointers made, Ball tied Charlotte's franchise record for most three-pointers made in a game. Not only that, but Ball achieved the feat in just three quarters. He now shares that distinction with four other players: Kemba Walker, Devonte' Graham, Terry Rozier and Kelly Oubre Jr. who most recently accomplished the feat in 2022.
Following the win, Ball wasn't caught up in his own accomplishments, but rather the success of the team. "We just stuck with the game plan and, like we told everybody, just play hard, make the easy plays and we should win the game," said Ball. "We've taken care of the job at task. We're trying to stay on topic and just keep on getting these wins."
With the win, Charlotte remains 10th place in the Eastern Conference, looking to hunt down a top-eight seed before the end of the season.
The Hornets will finish the week with road matchups against the Bulls and Pacers before returning home to face the Portland Trail Blazers Saturday.
