Liverpool will take the final spot in the top five ahead of Chelsea, according to Gary Lineker.
The England legend and former BBC presenter claims that Arne Slot’s side have improved following a difficult start to the campaign, and he is backing the Reds to seal Champions League qualification:
“I think it’s between Chelsea and Liverpool, and they’re both a bit erratic. Chelsea, I think, have got a lot going for them. They’ve had a good run, but they’re a bit inexperienced.”

“I think Liverpool, they’re definitely better than they were in the first half of the season, defensively is the key. They’re not giving as many goals away now.”
“So, I think ultimately if you pinned me against the wall and said, ‘Right, you’ve got to choose your top five.’ I go Arsenal, City, Villa, Man United, and Liverpool.”
The odds of Liverpool securing Champions League football
Opta give Slot’s men a 52.66% chance of finishing in the top five, which actually gives them a better chance than both Manchester United (31.25%) and Chelsea (24.57%).
Chelsea’s percentage is so low because they have a very difficult run of fixtures coming up, and that has been factored into their probability.
Liverpool’s final 11 fixtures
The Reds have six home matches and five away games remaining. They do have tricky trips to Everton, Manchester United and Aston Villa, as well as matches against Wolves and Brighton on the road.
They will host Chelsea at Anfield in May, but they will be classed as favourites to win their other five home fixtures (West Ham, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Brentford).
Of course, there are no easy games in the Premier League, but they do have a better run-in than Chelsea on paper. If you want an official Puma Premier League match ball, visit Fanatics.co.uk here.
