It’s been a rough season for the Sacramento Kings, and now the NBA’s most notable personalities are weighing in.
On the heels of their 16th-straight loss–extending a franchise record–over the weekend, ESPN’s Inside The NBA crew of Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny ‘The Jet’ Smith, and Ernie ‘EJ’ Johnson shared their thoughts on the head-turning losing streak.
“That’s impossible. That’s got to be a typo,” Barkley said of the record-setting streak. “You can’t play 15 good teams in a row.”
Barkley and the rest of the ESPN crew didn’t hold back in the clip below, adding that circus music should be played as the Kings suffered a double-digit loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

Of course, as fans know, the Sacramento Kings’ losing streak is very real.
The Sacramento Kings enter Monday’s game in Memphis having lost 16 straight games, with their most recent win taking place on January 16th. During this 16-game skid, Sacramento has lost each game by an average of 14 points, losing four games by 20 or more points.
More losses are likely on the way for the Kings as they set their sights on securing a high pick in this summer’s loaded NBA Draft.
Sacramento currently owns the worst record in the NBA, giving them a 52.1% chance of landing a top-four pick and a 14.0% chance of winning May’s NBA Draft Lottery.
Star guard Zach LaVine (hand), center Domantas Sabonis (knee), and forward De’Andre Hunter (eye) will all miss the final stretch of the regular season, opening the door for the Kings’ young core to get extended reps.
Sacramento is in an evaluation phase, and that means there will be growing pains. We’re witnessing those in real time as the franchise weathers its worst stretch of basketball since relocating to Northern California in the fall of 1985.
