Browns De Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah's NFL Future in Doubt: Report

The NFL future for Cleveland Browns star linebacker, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah received a harrowing update.

After colliding with Baltimore Ravens future Hall of Fame running back, Derrick Henry, Owusu-Koramoah went down with a scary neck injury. The ailment caused the Browns defensive end to miss the final three months of the 2024 season as well as the entirety of the Browns’ 2025 campaign.

While many Browns players, staff members, and fans have all hoped for some good news for Owusu-Koramoah in 2026 and beyond, it appears as if the club won’t be able to watch him share the field with the NFL’s reigning Defensive Rookie of The Year Carson Schwesinger following an update from Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

“Owusu-Koramoah, who suffered a serious neck injury in a violent collision with Ravens running back Derrick Henry on Oct. 27, 2024, is doubtful at best to ever make it back to the playing field, a league source tells cleveland.com,” Cabot noted.

Prior to sitting out the entirety of the 2025 season, the former Browns second-round pick admitted he didn’t know what the future held when it comes to his on-field career, while announcing that he wouldn’t return to the field this past season.

"To the Cleveland Browns fanbase and my supporters worldwide-thank you for your patience in my silence," Owusu-Koramoah penned. "From Day 1, you embraced me as more than a player, but also as a brother and young man with purpose. I'm grateful to the Browns organization for their full support, and to the world-class doctors guiding me through recovery.

“While I won't suit up this season, I'm focused on what I can control - my healing, my mindset, and my faith. The body may rest, but the calling never sleeps. I've given my heart to this game. I don't know what's next, but I'll continue trusting my medical team, serving the community, and backing my brothers on the field. Love always, JOK.”

Prior to the 2024 season and his potentially career-ending injury, Owusu-Koramoah signed a three-year, $39 million extension with the Browns, which included over $20 million in guarantees.
