Minkah Fitzpatrick commented on a possible trade

The Miami Dolphins have been in the process of retooling the roster. First, they announced that All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill would be released after four years with the team, and Pro Bowl pass rusher Bradley Chubb is expected to be released with a post-June 1 designation.

This is the result after the 2025 Dolphins failed to meet expectations. They came into the season with 8.5 projected wins, but after a 1-6 start, the team failed to make a meaningful playoff push. Due to their poor start, the team fired general manager Chris Grier during the season. Following the season, the team dismissed head coach Mike McDaniel, despite the team winning six of their last nine games.

One of Grier’s last moves was trading away Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith.Ramsey had reportedly become a drain on team morale, and Smith wanted an extension after his Pro Bowl season. Miami decided to move on from the pair, and traded them to Pittsburgh in exchange for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Now,Fitzpatrick is reportedly on the trade block as Miami’s new front office seeks to increase their draft capital.

Miami Dolphins’ Minkah Fitzpatrick Shares Feelings on Possible Trade

Following reports that the Dolphins are looking to trade their Pro Bowl defensive back, Minkah Fitzpatrick’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has commented on Minkah’s side of the possible trade. While speaking with Josh Moser,Rosenhaus said, “Minkah himself has not gone to the Dolphins and said that he wants to be traded. If there were to be a trade, that would be based on other factors.”

Some had speculated that Fitzpatrick would request a trade from the Dolphins after he had previously not wanted to participate in a Miami rebuild in his first tenure with the team. He requested a trade during the 2019 season as the Dolphins started the season 0-2 and had traded away a large portion of their starters from 2018.

However, that does not seem to be the case this time around as his agent specified that while a trade may occur, it has not been requested by the Dolphins player.

Minkah Fitzpatrick’s 2025 Season

Miami shopping Fitzpatrick is largely an indication of how they feel about their chances to compete in the 2026 season. The defensive back was highly effective with the team last season, and displayed leadership in the locker room. Despite Miami’s losing record last year,Fitzpatrick shared with the team that “he wouldn’t rather play with any other group of guys this season.”

Despite not earning any Pro Bowl or All-Pro accolades this season, his play likely deserved recognition. He finished the season with an 81.8 overall grade by Pro Football Focus, his highest since the 2022 season in which he earned first-team All-Pro honors. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish out the season with the Dolphins as he suffered an injury in Week 15 in Miami’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If Fitzpatrick is not traded, he has one year remaining on his current contract,
