Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is searching for a new NFL home, as he enters free agency this year. The New England Patriots are among the teams that the wide receiver is interested in. NFL analyst Jason La Canfora reported this on Monday.

Evans is coming off a season that saw him deal with injuries in 2025. Even still, he was able to put up solid numbers. He recorded 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns. Injuries snapped his 11 consecutive seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards. Nevertheless, he was still able to have a productive year.

Evans is closely studying explosive offenses. In particular, he is reportedly looking for quarterback, scheme, and how the offensive coordinator does. La Canfora broke down his suitors, in his column published on Monday.

There are not too many teams that meet those qualifications in the NFL, but besides Tampa, which feels like far from a lock, the 49ers, Patriots and Chargers standout (the Eagles would as well, were they to trade veteran receiver AJ Brown as many anticipate).

Evans has 866 catches for 13,052 yards and 108 touchdowns in his career. He is the only player in NFL history to begin a career with 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. The streak tied the great Jerry Rice for the most consecutive thousand-yard seasons at any point in a career.

The Texas A&M product has also played well in the postseason. In 10 playoff games, he has tallied 52 catches for 801 yards and six touchdowns. These are all Buccaneers franchise records. Although injuries have slowed him down a bit, the production is there from past seasons.

The playmaking ability was there at Texas A&M as well. He recorded two 1,000-yard seasons while there. He was a consensus All-American in 2013. The playmaker twice broke the school record for receiving yards in a single game during the 2013 season. He had 279 yards against Alabama. He then did it again with 287 yards and four touchdowns against Auburn.

A Situation To Watch For New England Patriots

He has maintained consistent production across all levels of football. Now, he is entering the twilight of his career. This could be his final big contract. In the meantime, the Patriots are looking for another playmaking veteran wide receiver. He could check all the boxes for the Patriots, much like he is looking for a team that checks all the boxes for himself.

It will be interesting to see how this develops. Evans may have something left in the tank for a Patriots team that could use another playmaker. He is probably not the receiver he once was. Nevertheless, he could provide additional depth for a position that could use additional playmakers. He would not have to play the role of top receiver for the Patriots, and instead be just another playmaking weapon.

This could be a move that works out for both parties. Contract length and the health of Evans is going to be important. Nevertheless, it’s going to be a fun storyline to follow this offseason.
